2007 Tin Knocker Sauvignon Blanc

Sean Larkin has made his name producing wonderful red wines but not many people realize he also produces superb white wines. His sauvignon blanc has a small amount of Semillon added to the final blend producing a wine which has a great crispness and bright acidity with a little richness in the finish

2007 Three Clicks Sauvignon Blanc

Bruce Devlin only produces 180 cases of this Stainless steel fermented Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is best served slightly chilled. Wonderful mineral notes are followed by pears and light grapefruit notes and a rich finish. GRAB SOME BEFORE ITS GONE!!!

2006 Cristom Pinot Gris

This Pinot Gris is a pale-straw color. It has the aroma of Asian pears, white flowers and green apples along with some mineral notes. On the palate it shows a ripeness, viscosity and concentration that give the impression of fruitiness in a decidedly dry wine.

2007 Chateau Pavie Macquin Rose

This rose is primarily Merlot. This wine has a fresh summer berry nose with a slight note of strawberries on the palate. The wine finishes with a light bright fruit flavor. A wonderful wine to have on the deck at sunset.

2007 Ch Thieuley Blanc

A wonderful little Bordeaux blanc, this wine has great intensity with exotic flavors of pineapple and citrus fruits. This wine has a dry crisp slightly smoky finish which would be a wonderful partner to fish.

2007 Falanghina / Cantina del Taburno – Campania

Almost clear to pale yellow in color with an white flowers, citrus, mature pear and hints of bananas on the nose and palate. It is a fresh and fruity dry white with a nice balance and clean refreshing finish. Serving suggestions: Roast fish with herbs, shellfish, pasta dishes with seafood.

2006 Vernaccia / Mormoraia - Toscana

This well balanced and harmonious Vernaccia is ideal for hors d'oeuvres in general.  It is great with fish, shellfish, white meat and fresh cheeses.  With intense fresh fruity aromas, hints of hawthorn and apples, and a long pleasingly vibrant finish, you can’t go wrong, even if used it as an aperitif.

2006 Tocai Friulano / Toros – Friuli

Pale straw-yellow, Tocai Friulano carries an enticing nuance of wildflowers and pears. It is broadly flavored and can offer notes of herbs and citrus. Very nicely balanced acidity heightens the flavors and gives it a long, clean finish.

2006 Mas Carlot Blanc – Vin de Pays

The Marsanne-Roussanne is made of 60% Marsanne from 25 year-old vines and 40% Roussanne. The wine is aged sur lie in tank after fermentation. It is bright on the palate with crisp, juicy apple and pear skin flavors. This well made wine is a superb value that compares favorably to wines twice its price.

2007 Tavel / Domaine Mordoree Rosé

"Light, bright pink. Spicy redcurrant, strawberry and blood orange aromas are complicated by dusty minerals and fresh rose. Light in body but intensely flavored, offering concentrated red berry flavors and tangy citrus pith flavors. Becomes richer with air, picking up black raspberry and bitter cherry qualities. Impressively precise rose, finishing with excellent cut and length. This really stains the palate."

2007 Cotes du Rhone Rose / Domaine de Mourchon

"The palate has a soft start, its texture is mooth, the flavor is of squeezy red fruit, with some bite towards the finish as it closes. Provides easy drinking, aperitif or food. The fruit is rather delicately drawn, and sympa. The length is good – there is a nice savory aftertaste."

2007 Coto de Hayas Rose

Back by popular demand, this Rose was a staff and customer favorite last year.  We’re happy to report that the 2007 version is even better.  A blend of 95% Garnacha and 5% Tempranillo, this beauty hails from Spain’s Campo de Borja region.  The unique red clay soil here allows Grenache to develop an extra layer of complexity and the cool climate gives superb aromatics and freshness to the wine.  A big old “ball of fruit” this dry Rose can outclass many of its peers at twice the price!

2006 Auratus / Quinta do Feital

Genius young winemaker, Marcial Dorado (a Spaniard from Galicia) came to Portugal in search of great sites for the Albarino grape.  Along the way he purchased a vineyard in Seixas on the mouth of the Minho river (Vinho Verde country).  Planted mostly with the Trajadura grape used for Vinho Verde, this wine is what most Vinho Verde hopes to be when it grows up. For technical reasons, it cannot hold that appellation, yet it does more to honor that tradition than 99% of Vinho Verde on the market.  The young vine Alvararinho (Albarino) that Dorado planted here is being blended into this wine and will eventually go into a different cuvee.  This dry, crisp white is insanely good for the price.  This estate is one to follow!

2007 Piesporter Falkenberg Riesling / Reuscher-Haart (Liter)

Local importer Terry Theise was just featured in a wonderful article in the Washington Post’s food section.  Since the article, we’ve had a huge amount of interest in Terry’s wines and we’re glad that he’s finally getting some of the attention he so deserves.  This is one of the great values in his portfolio-a one liter bottling from the Falkenberg vineyard which is located right above the famous Goldtropfchen.  I was fortunate enough to taste the entire 2007 vintage with Terry in Germany and am extremely excited about all the “big boys” that will be arriving in the Fall.  This wine will give you a great preview of the vintage.  With about a Kabinett level of residual sugar, this would be an incredible pairing with all things Asian or would be super on its own.  The Liter size means you can leave it in your fridge all week and get even more “bang for the buck”!
