Beaujolais

• Chateau Cambon was founded by two giants of the Beaujolais natural wine world, Marcel Lapierre and Jean-Claude Chanudet. Marcel’s wife Marie took over for her late husband after his passing in 2010.
• Jean-Claude Chanudet also makes the wines at Domaine Chamonard–he’s married to Genevieve Chamonard, and together they took charge of her family estate after her father Joseph passed away in 1990.

Roilette was the name of the prior owner's prized race horse. 

Despite the name, Clos de la Roilette is in no way a clos.

The vines are on the border of Moulin-à-Vent and have a similar structure to that cru compared to most Fleurie

The domaine farms ten acres in this high elevation appellation just southwest of Morgon. The vines are all head-pruned (as are all of the domaine's Gamay), average 50 years and grow on a steep, south-facing hillside of sandy granitic soil. The grapes are de-stemmed but not crushed, and ferments are spontaneous. The élevage is a relatively short one of six or so months in concrete vats, making for an especially exuberant wine of crisp red berry fruit. Production averages 1,670 cases.

Domaine de la Prébende produces a deeply mineral Beaujolais from a predominantly clay and limestone terroir, a rarity in a region dominated by granite soils...The Prébende Beaujolais cuvée, “Anna Asmaquer,” is named for Ghislaine's great grandmother, who married Jules Dupeuble in 1919. The family wanted to add her name to the label because it was Anna who managed the vineyards and winemaking—she is the true source of inspiration for what has become Domaine de la Prébende today

This is a very old school Beaujolais in the best sense: beautiful garnet color, beguiling aromatics, and a burst of refreshment in the mouth—and that burst is a savory, mineral, toothsome thing because of the domaine’s high elevations and because of Brouilly’s meager volcanic soils. Some crus emphasize soil notes, others give fruit, but only good Côte de Brouilly gives stone in the flavor

The regional appellation "Beaujolais" was recognized in 1937 and is the most extensive of the region. It produces fresh and fruity wines, perfect for the first days of summer. Trénel's Beaujolais Cuvée Rochebonne is produced on the east of the "Pierres Dorées" area, on three parcels east oriented and facing the Mont Blanc. They’re located in the village of Lucenay and are particularly ancient: the older one has been planted in 1922. The soil is very clayey and gives roundness and structure to the wine.​
