2016 Seghesio, Aldo&Riccardo - Barolo La Villa

On my recent trip to Barolo I had the chance to visit a good number of producers and the wines are showing beautifully. Unquestionably one of my favorite wineries was Fratelli Seghesio. Produced in the great Casteletto Vineyard in Monforte, it is one of the few remaining Baroli from the outstanding 2016 vintage and can be cellared for more maturity or enjoyed with some aeration upon opening. Barolo La Villa Casteletto was one of my first favorite Barolo wines from 1989 so I can say I have been following them for a while.

On my impromptu visit I had the good fortune to visit and taste and tour with Sandro learning the Seghesio philosophy is " to craft wines that fully reflect the terroir and the grapes they are made from, producing the right mix between winemaking innovations and tradition, convinced as they are of the potential that in its simplicity – this land is capable of offering"
