2022 Talley - Chardonnay Rosemary's Vineyard Arroyo Grande Valley (750ml)
Talley Vineyards traces its roots to 1948, when Oliver Talley first began farming vegetables in the Arroyo Grande Valley. His son Don and daughter-in-law Rosemary later founded the winery in 1986, planting the valley's first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The following year, Don planted a Pinot Noir block across the driveway from their home and named it for Rosemary, who had joined the family business as a clerical worker before helping build its sales program. Today the winery remains family owned, now guided by Brian Talley across four generations of farming history and a strong commitment to sustainability.
Rosemary's Vineyard sits on the coolest site within the Talley family's holdings, its Chardonnay vines planted in 1987 to complement the Pinot Noir growing nearby. The wine spends fourteen months aging sur lie in French oak, about a third of it new, a treatment meant to build texture and complexity while letting the site's natural intensity come through.
The 2022 vintage offers citrus and stone fruit aromas layered with crushed stone minerality, honeyed white flowers, and blanched almond, with a whisper of spicy oak. The palate is concentrated and bright, with integrated acidity carrying through a long finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled swordfish, lobster bisque, or a wedge of triple crème cheese.
