2023 Marc Colin - Chassagne Montrachet Cuvee Margot (750ml)
2023 Domaine Marc Colin – Chassagne-Montrachet "Cuvée Margot" (750ml)
A beautifully crafted village Chassagne from one of the Côte de Beaune's most celebrated and trusted family estates — and one of the finest values in white Burgundy at this level. Founded in 1970 by Marc Colin, the domaine today spans 15 hectares across 26 appellations in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny, and Santenay, now run by Marc's children Joseph, Caroline, and Damien — a family whose roots in these vineyards stretch back generations. The Cuvée Margot is their signature village Chassagne — an assembly of four distinct plots on clay-limestone soils at the base of the hillside, planted between 1970 and 2005 — blended with the same care and precision that defines the estate's Premier and Grand Cru bottlings.
The 2023 opens with a fine and expressive nose of ripe pear, hawthorn blossom, fresh butter, and a smoky touch, while the palate is ample and precise — a lively attack, pronounced limestone minerality, and a persistent finish with hints of citrus and toasted hazelnut. K&L Wines praised the 2023 Margot with a score of 90–92 Points, noting its silky width, perfumed citrus and flowers, and textural fleshy character with a vibrancy of finishing flavor. Pale gold and luminous, this is Chassagne-Montrachet at its most honest and immediately pleasurable — generous yet precise, rich yet refreshing, and a wine that consistently punches well above its village designation.
