From a single vineyard, the 2015 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Poggetto di Sopra is a pure expression of Sangiovese. Only 3,000 bottles were made. The fruit is organic, and the wine ferments on ambient yeasts (whole cluster) with up to 25 days of skin contact. It ages in oak for two years. This is an extraordinarily pure expression of the grape from a warm vintage in which its natural fruit characteristics of cherry and wild raspberry come forth with intensity and power. It is a mid-weight expression that carefully balances the power of the vintage against the extremely elegant and graceful house style achieved at Avignonesi.
