Created in 1949, this Italian aperitif is flavoured with artichoke leaves (Cynara scolymus), from which the drink derives its name and 12 other botanicals. Cynar is usuall served on-the-rocks with a slice of orange and soda or tonic as an ap?ritif. A variation of the Negroni cocktail uses Cynar in place of Campari.
