Twin Wood is a 16 year old single malt from the Knappogue Castle range, which was initially matured in bourbon barrels before being transferred over to casks seasoned with Oloroso Sherry for a finishing period. Very good value Irish whiskey, right here. Nose: It's plenty malty, with a good balance of vanilla and dark chocolate coming through. Palate: Oak-y spice comes to the fore on the palate, with continued nutty chocolate notes and a touch of dried fruit. Finish: the Sherry cask influence persists on the finish.
