A beguiling display of spiced blood orange, balsam herbs, sour cherries, ashen stone and cedar keeps you coming back to the 2019 Etna Rosso Guardiola over and over again. It's silky and polished in feel, with salty minerals up front that give way to tart red currants offset by a subtle tinge of grapefruit. This leaves a saturating coating of primary concentration through the structured finale, where fine-grained tannins hold the expression firm. The 2019 Guardiola will need time to show its best, yet it has all of the components to mature into a wonderful expression of old-vine Nerello Mascalese from the higher elevations of Month Etna.
