The 2018 Etna Bianco A'Puddara lifts up with a dazzling display of dusty dried flowers, lemon confit, hints of gingery spice and almond. It's silky-textured and rich, with a sweet display of ripe apples and melon balanced by a twang of lime and kiwi toward the close. Tension remains high as the A'Puddara tapers off with cheek-puckering freshness and a flourish of salty minerality. A bit of cellaring is recommended to allow this Carricante to blossom aromatically. The A'Puddara refines on the lees in neutral 3,500-liter French oak barrels for eight months. I love the sweet and sour contrasts here, and it is packed full of so much character.
