The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru was quite closed and reticent on the nose from barrel, touches of cassis and violet petal eventually unfurling, though it remained broody. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fresh and vibrant. The velvety-textured finish is very caressing. Pure and focused, with a surfeit of energy, this is a superb Premier Cru from Roty.
