Antoniolo's 2016 Gattinara Riserva is fabulous. A wine of stature and depth, the 2016 is seriously impressive right out of the gate. There's tremendous power and intensity, all in the vertical style that is the signature of the best wines here. Dark cherry, sage, mint, plum, spice, lavender and dried herbs open with a bit of coaxing. In a word: superb.
