This is the proud and historic flagship wine from one of Sicily's most important producers, Duca di Salaparuta. The 2017 Duca Enrico is a plush and fleshed-out expression that spreads smoothly over the palate. The wine offers loads of fruit intensity, and it manages to do so without feeling heavy or over extracted. Indeed, the Duca Enrico remains polished and elegant, owing to its celebrated Sicilian pedigree with Nero d'Avola grapes sourced from across Sicily's best growing areas. The vintage heat has shaped lots of black and purple fruit intensity, but this expression of some 24,000 bottles is void of those green olive aromas you sometimes get with this indigenous grape.
