The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up pretty flowery perfumes with hints of clove, allspice and dusty black cherries. It’s silky and seamless in the mouth, with an elegant expression of polished red fruits offset by hints of sour citrus and spice, as inner florals amass toward the close. Classically dry and lightly structured, this finishes on refinement and purity but with the potential for medium-term cellaring. This is one of the best young wines I’ve ever tasted from Terre Nere
