Pichler's 2013 Riesling Smaragd Weissenkirchner Achleithen combines its deep and spicy minerality with intense (almost dried) apple aromas on the nose. On the palate this rich, full-bodied and tightly woven Riesling is a melting stone, very intense and concentrated, highly complex and expressive, finishing with a persistent salinity. Store this great Austrian Riesling for at least ten years and then enjoy it for another ten. One of the greatest dry Rieslings I have tasted for a long time.
