Pierre le Grand’s Crozes-Hermitage is gleaned from vineyards located on a plateau and terraces in the southern section of Crozes. These vines are rooted in sand and cailloux soils and have reached an average age of 40 years. The wine displays a meaty nose that also features cherries. It has a nice, bright middle with very fine tannins which move though the finish. Smoked herb and licorice notes add to the complexity. The wines of Pierre le Grand are specially crafted cuvées made by Domaine Jean-Pierre Mucyn, one of the young rising stars in the northern Rhône.
