Smoky black tea, marjoram, fresh pit-inflected white peach and lemon - a combination distinctly evocative of this site - feature on the nose as well as on a palate that (even more strikingly than other Rebholz 2016 vintage Rieslings) displays a delectable paradox. There is richness bordering on custardy, yet an animating brightness supports the luscious sense of fruit; an abundance of glycerol, yet an uncanny sense of buoyancy at only 11.9% alcohol. Suggestions of iris root, ginseng and almond add further allure en route to a superbly sustained finish that delivers invigorating tang and mouthwatering salinity to accompany its juicy fruits and array of botanicals
