The 2016 Morey Saint Denis En La Rue de Vergy, an exchange with Virgile Lignier, is the only cuv?e without any stem addition. Maybe Virgile kept them? Matured in 30% new oak, it has a ripe and quite generous bouquet with kirsch and redcurrant jam, orange pith emerging with time, all with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a finely proportioned Morey with a brightness and vitality toward the finish. There is not a very long aftertaste at the moment, but there is something intrinsically stylish about this wine.
