Full-bodied without seeming at all heavy, the 2016 Gigondas is a 70-30 Grenache-Syrah blend. Raspberries and crushed stone mark the nose, while the texture is rich and tannic but ripe. The flavors turn darker and deeper on the finish, shading toward plum and mocha. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
