The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Senza Titolo captivates and keeps me coming back to the glass again and again with a vivid bouquet of cocoa, licorice, balsam herbs, spiced citrus, tomato leaf and tart wild berries. This is velvety yet intense, with a pretty inner sweetness offset by salineminerals and iron-borne earth tones that create incredible intrigue, as black cherries, cinnamon and clove evolve into dark chocolate. It tapers off incredibly long with balsamic herbs and hints of mocha, leaving hauntingly dark florals and an exotic flair. Simply stunning; but be aware that while the expression comes across as sweet, the grams of residual sugar per liter in the 2012 is below 1%. Amazing, but in the right time and right place
