Based on 90% to 95% botrytised grapes, the golden-yellow 2021 Ürziger In der Kranklei Riesling Beerenauslese offers a concentrated, piquant and minerally fresh nose with stewed apricot, candied lemon and flinty slate aromas. Rich but fine, the palate is voluptuous yet elegant, finessed and superbly balanced. The texture is seamless and noble and the finish stimulatingly crystalline and saline. This is a natural beauty with hints of oranges and kumquats on the long and aromatic aftertaste. Everything here is subtle and delicate, even the richness. It was picked with 138° Oechsle and bottled with 203 grams per liter of residual sugar and 6% stated alcohol. The 10.3 grams per liter of total acidity come much finer than the data alone might indicate. Natural cork. This is a very rare (50 liters) production of 375-milliliter bottles.
