Antoniolo's 2017 Gattinara Riserva is a powerful, burly wine that is going to need a number of years to come together, and then likely more time after that to truly be in the zone. Today, the tannins are a bit overpowering, and yet there is plenty of depth behind all of that acid and structure. Macerated red cherry, spice, dried herbs, tobacco, incense and orange peel lend quite a bit of character. Patience is a must. There is certainly a ton to look forward to
