The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino from Martoccia di Brunelli is remarkably pretty, showing dusty dried florals and white smoke giving way to notes of ripe strawberry and plum. It’s silky in texture and a more savory expression of fruit, complemented by inner herbal and florals tones. Brisk acids maintain an energetic feel, even as grippy tannins slowly mount. This finishes classically structured and a bit crunchy, tapering off with minerallaced tart berries.
