Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Petit Verdot, the 2020 Rabelais bursts out of the glass with sweet herbal essences and dark red and black fruit aromas tied to sappy oak tones before offering a minty herbal line that doesn’t give up. Medium-bodied, the palate displays a sturdy mouthfeel with plenty of staying power, offering a round texture with surprising breadth and depth. The wine continues to unpack and uncoil, showing additional layers of complexity before reaching a firm, long-lingering finish. The wine aged for 20 months in all new French oak barrels. 9,200 bottles were produced. It’s a beautiful wine that will age gracefully over the next 10 to 13 years. Your patience will be rewarded.
