The 2022 Riesling Ayler Schonfels Grosses Gewächs No. 11 is harvested on a steep slate promontory high above the Saar, a site that is as windy as it is sunny. The rather subtle nose is still very shy, wanting to give little away. The palate is intense, and the usually gentle yeast here has a grapefruit zestiness that draws you deeper into saltiness. There also is a pithy element that makes the mouth water alongside freshness. (Dry)
