This wine stands out and is one of my favorites in this historic retrospective. The Bertani 1967 Amarone della Valpolicella has evolved elegantly to show cola, licorice, dried prune and maraschino cherries. The bouquet remains bright, vertical and intense. I also like how the aromas are set against a less extracted mouthfeel underlined by finesse and complexity. Those cherry aromas add a touch of sweetness to the finish. This vintage is full of fun surprises.
