The 2020 Pinot Noir Réserve "Cuve 7" is based on fruits from roughly 40-year-old vines in the Rotenberg (on red clay and limestone) and in Rodern (granite). Macerated for about 10 to 12 days and aged in foudre until April of the following year, the 2020 offers a deep, intense and generous yet also refined and elegant bouquet of ripe dark berries and cherries intermingled with delicate toast and salt aromas. Full-bodied, quite rich and powerful-finishing, this Pinot Noir is mouthfilling, generously fleshy and intense yet also silky, lush, elegant and structured, with spicy/peppery tannins and some textural Rhône features, even licorice aromas toward the finish. An interesting and mouth-coating Pinot with excellent aging capacity, this Pinot needs some years of bottle age to refine and gain in finesse, though. 14% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in April and November 2024.
