The 2005 Cote Rotie la Landonne is a massive, decadent and seriously concentrated Cote Rotie that, even now at age 10, is still backward and unevolved. Inky purple to the rim, it offers full-bore notes of plums, blackberries, violets, incense and charcoal to go with an uber-ripe, full-bodied, thick and chewy feel on the palate. Possessing high tannin and a stacked mid-palate, it needs another 3-4 years of cellaring and will be a 40+-year wine when all is said and done
