Ardnamurchan distillery was founded in 2014 by independent bottler Adelphi Selection, making it one of Scotland's youngest whisky producers. Sitting in the village of Glenbeg on the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula, it holds the distinction of being the most westerly distillery on the UK mainland. Rather than relying on a single master blender, the distillery uses a six-person blending team to select and approve every batch, a collaborative approach that reflects its roots as a hands-on, single-cask bottler.

The AD/ Cask Strength batches begin with barley from two vintages, the majority peated to roughly 35 to 40 parts per million, distilled in copper wash and spirit stills after fermentation in a mix of wooden and stainless steel washbacks. The whisky matures predominantly in ex-bourbon barrels, with a smaller portion aged in ex-sherry oloroso and PX casks. It is bottled without chill filtration and at natural color, with strength varying by batch but generally landing in the high 50s percent ABV, preserving the full intensity of the spirit.

Expect coastal peat smoke intertwined with ripe orchard fruit, black pepper, and a persistent maritime salinity. Sherry cask batches add richer notes of dried fruit, marzipan, and salted caramel, while citrus and vanilla brighten the edges. The finish runs long, smoky, and gently spiced, closing on lingering brine and warm oak.
