Casamigos Anejo Tequila 375ml
Casamigos was founded in 2013 by George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman, born from the trio's habit of sampling tequila while building vacation homes together in Cabo San Lucas. The name combines the Spanish words for house and friends, reflecting its casual origins as a tequila made for their own gatherings before it became a commercial brand. Diageo acquired Casamigos in 2017 for close to a billion dollars, and production continues at Productos Finos de Agave, NOM 1416, in the Jalisco highlands.
This añejo starts with the same highland blue Weber agave used across the Casamigos range, plants left to mature for ten to twelve years before harvest. The piñas are cooked for three days in a traditional brick oven, then fermented for roughly 80 hours, about double the industry standard, a longer rest that lets slower, more flavorful yeast strains shape the spirit before distillation. After being distilled twice, the tequila spends fourteen months resting in reconditioned American whiskey barrels.
That combination of long fermentation and extended aging produces a notably smooth, rounded añejo. The nose carries buttery vanilla, confectioner's sugar, citrus, and a touch of sandalwood. On the palate, cinnamon sugar and sweet corn meet subtle oak and mild pepper, with a gentle smokiness running through, finishing long with fading cinnamon and a whisper of tobacco.
