Dewar's traces back to 1846, when John Dewar opened a small wine and spirits shop on Perth's High Street. His sons John and Tommy later expanded the business worldwide, building the Aberfeldy Distillery in 1898 to secure a steady supply of malt whisky for the family blends. White Label itself was created in 1899 by the company's first master blender, A.J. Cameron, and has remained the cornerstone expression ever since. Now owned by Bacardi and produced under John Dewar & Sons, the brand markets itself as the world's most awarded blended Scotch.

White Label is a blend of up to forty single malt and grain whiskies drawn from across Scotland, with Aberfeldy providing the honeyed backbone at its core. Dewar's uses a proprietary "double aging" method, marrying the component whiskies together and letting them rest further in oak casks before bottling, a step the distillery credits with rounding out the final blend. The whisky is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume and released without an age statement, aiming for a consistent house style batch after batch.

The nose brings soft honey, ripe pear, and vanilla alongside a faint wisp of smoke. On the palate, that same honeyed sweetness carries through with toffee, orchard fruit, and a light touch of toasted oak, all wound around a smooth, mellow texture. The finish is gentle and lingering, closing on warm honey and a trace of herbal freshness. Its light body makes it a natural fit for highballs and other mixed drinks as much as sipping neat.

"This was first created over a century ago by the Dewars master blender. White Label contains around 40 different whiskies in the blend, with Aberfeldy at its heart.

Tasting Note

Nose: Honey, peach, apple and wood. Cut hay.

Palate: Medium, vanilla fudge, smoke, toffee, heather honey, oak.

Finish: Good length, cut herbs, honeyed sweetness.
