Julio González-Frausto Estrada started distilling tequila in 1920s Jalisco at just seventeen years old, eventually founding the La Primavera distillery that would carry his name. Today the brand operates as Tequila Tres Magueyes under NOM 1449 in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Jalisco highlands, and has been part of Diageo's portfolio since the company acquired it. The Blanco expression, launched in 1996, serves as the foundation for the entire Don Julio range, built from the same base recipe that shapes every aged variant the brand produces.

Made from 100% mature Blue Weber agave grown in the highlands, the piñas are steam cooked in traditional ovens for roughly 72 hours to draw out their natural sugars. Once crushed, the resulting agave juice is fermented with a proprietary yeast strain before being double distilled in stainless steel pot stills. Unlike Don Julio's rested and barrel aged expressions, the Blanco is bottled almost immediately after distillation, sometimes resting briefly in stainless steel, which keeps its profile bright and unshaped by wood.

The result is crystal clear and vibrant in the glass. Fresh citrus zest and sweet cooked agave lead the nose, joined by light floral notes and a hint of white pepper and mint. On the palate, ripe grapefruit and lemon meet a gentle earthiness typical of highland agave, closing on a clean, lingering finish with a soft herbal sweetness.
