Our Five Favorite Cote Rotie

With only around 500 acres planted with grapes (95% Syrah), Cote Rotie is one of the smaller appellations in the Rhone region.  It is therefore not nearly as well known as Chateuneuf du Pape and Hermitage.  Even though the name translates into ‘roasted slope’ the wines from Cote Rotie are surprisingly refined – almost Burgundian in style.  Cote Rotie is perhaps one of the most elegant, seductive wines in the world. At their best, they offer a depth of flavors and complex aromatics including bacon fat, black and red fruits, kirsch, mineral, pepper, earth, spice and floral scents.  The wines are most often medium to full bodied wines with sensuous, silky textures that caress the palate with exotic sensations.

These are our current Five Favorite wines from Cote Rotie that are less than $70 bottle. Perfect for drinking this Fall, and a fantastic addition to any Holiday Table!
