Four Roses Small Batch comes from Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, the same historic operation founded on the banks of the Salt River and revived for the domestic market in the early 2000s after decades as an export-only brand under Seagram's ownership. Where Single Barrel showcases a single recipe from one hand-picked cask, Small Batch demonstrates the other side of Four Roses' craft: the art of marrying different recipes into a unified whole.

Master distiller Brent Elliott blends four of the distillery's ten proprietary recipes into this release, OBSK, OESK, OBSO, and OESO, combining both of Four Roses' mashbills with yeast strains contributing slight spice and rich fruit character. Barrels typically age six to eight years, drawn from multiple rickhouses to hit the target flavor profile, with an average age around six and a half years. The finished blend bottles at 90 proof.

The nose is spicy and rich, layered with mellow fruit and hints of sweet oak and caramel. The palate turns creamy and mellow, with ripened red berries balanced against spice and moderate sweetness. The finish is soft, smooth, and pleasantly long.
