Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea (Voyage 28) Bourbon Whiskey 375ml

Jefferson's was founded in 1997 by Trey Zoeller, working alongside his father Chet, a respected bourbon historian. The brand built its reputation on unconventional aging experiments, and its whiskey is produced at the Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood, Kentucky.

Ocean Aged at Sea began almost by accident, when Trey sent three bourbon barrels aboard a research vessel operated by the marine conservation group OCEARCH, curious to see how the constant rocking, temperature swings, and salt air would affect the spirit. The results were striking enough that the concept became a regular release, with barrels now sent on extended ocean voyages that typically cross the equator four times and call at more than thirty ports across five continents. Voyage 28 set out from Savannah and traveled to Panama, New Zealand, Australia, Shanghai, Japan, and the North Pacific before returning by way of Baltimore and Europe. The bourbon is bottled as a blend of straight bourbons at 90 proof.

The whiskey shows vanilla, coconut, and musty oak on the nose. On the palate, orange and cooked fruit flavors lead, joined by coconut, honey, cinnamon, and raisin cake, with oak running throughout and carrying into a long, spicy finish.
