Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila 1.75L

Jose Cuervo traces its roots to 1795, when Jose María Guadalupe de Cuervo received an official charter from the King of Spain to produce tequila commercially. By 1812 the family had established La Rojeña, the distillery in Jalisco that still produces Jose Cuervo today and stands as the oldest active spirits distillery in Latin America. The brand went on to become the world's leading tequila, with barrels reaching California as early as 1852 and Cuervo pioneering the practice of bottling tequila individually.

Jose Cuervo Gold, officially called Especial, is a joven-style tequila made by blending reposado tequila with younger, unaged spirit rather than aging the whole batch. As a mixto rather than a 100% agave tequila, it must contain at least 51% blue Weber agave, with the remainder made up of other sugars such as cane or corn syrup. Its golden color comes from the reposado component and added caramel coloring rather than extended barrel time, and it is distilled and blended at La Rojeña using agave grown in Jose Cuervo's own volcanic-soil fields around the Tequila volcano.

The aroma is sweet with pleasant agave notes and a hint of vanilla, while the palate offers a light, subtly sweet agave character layered with oak and vanilla tones. The finish is short, smooth, and well balanced, making it a longtime staple for Margaritas.
