Mathilde Framboise (Raspberry) Liqueur 375ml
Mathilde Framboise comes from Maison Ferrand, a Cognac house based in the Grande Champagne region of Charente and also known for its Plantation Rum and Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao. Owner Alexandre Gabriel built the Mathilde line of fruit liqueurs around handcrafted recipes passed down from earlier generations, sourcing each fruit at peak ripeness from specific regional growers rather than relying on generic supply. Framboise is one of several expressions in the range, alongside pear, peach, and blackcurrant liqueurs made under the same house philosophy.
This liqueur blends three raspberry varieties: Lloyd George, a Scottish cultivar prized for its deep, vivid color, alongside Rose de Plombières and Violette de Boux, both grown in Burgundy and valued for their intense aromatics. The berries are pressed into a puree and macerated in an alcohol base rather than distilled, a method chosen specifically to preserve their natural color and fresh fruit character. Once macerated, the liqueur is filtered, lightly sweetened, and diluted down to a finished strength of 18% alcohol by volume.
Mathilde Framboise shows a pale straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, an unusual hue for a raspberry liqueur given its maceration method. The nose is bright and expressive, offering fresh raspberry with a delicate acidic edge, while the palate is ripe and juicy, finishing with a clean, fruit-driven sweetness.
