Contratto Millesimato Brut 2011

A wonderfully stylish and savory sparkling wine with dominant pinot characteristics. Scented with fragrant notes of flowers, berries, cherries and fresh bakery yeasts, it's backed by meaty, nutty and creamy complexity with underlying notes of cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, it's round and generous, with a smooth, vinous presence extending all down the palate. Very sophisticated and elegant, it's underpinned by a refined extract that provides a restrained sense of length.


90 points Vinous / Antonio Galloni - "What a pleasure it is to see the 2010 Metodo Classico Millesimato, a wine I first tasted during dosage trials last year. In my opinion, this is the first wine that shows where Contratto is headed. A blend of old-vine Pinot and Chardonnay, the 2010 graces the palate with green pear, flowers, mint and white pepper. The flavors are dry, brisk and bracing, but there is also plenty of depth and texture in the glass. This is a fabulous showing."

Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Ateo 2014

Intense ruby red color. The bouquet is intense with vibrant herbal, spicy and fruit-forward notes. Very well structured, full bodied, quite soft and balanced with pronounced tannins. Shows sweet black cherry and cassis, and has a plummy texture. Tobacco, vanilla, and baking spices intermingle on the nose and palate. A wine with a great personality and long aftertaste. Appropriate companion to first courses featuring red meat and main dishes of roasted pork and lamb.
