The wines still made in the old Estate by the Gaetano Bertani Family will be presented by Giovanni Bertani Son of Gaetano. Produced in the Cacerous clay soils on the hills of Abrizzani di Negrar the current bottlings have been given the name Tenuta Santa Maria after the church on the property pictured with the steeple above. The Bertani family are considered the first to produce Recioto di Valpolicella "Secco" which became known as Amarone a more dry style aged wine than the Valpolicella di Recioto made before.

Produced from the garganega varietal, cultivated with low-yields to ensure fruit with good concentration. The Soave is a pleasant surprise to the palate with freshness, depth, and balance. Intense straw-yellow color with a complex aroma with scents of exotic and summer fruits, pears, peaches, herbs, almonds, and a generous minerality, with traces of toasted vanilla. 2016 Valpolicella Superiore DOCG

Elegant and complex valpolicella continues the family tradition of the Ripasso method, used in the 1850s. The style is a consistent expression of the indigenous Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone grapes and terroir of the area. The Ripasso method is delicately achieved conducting a secondary extended maceration and fermentation over the Amarone grape skins, giving the wine higher complexity, bolder and softer body, and intense color.
Having a bouquet reminiscent of the Amarone, the wine is a vivid ruby red color with intense hints of cherry, blueberry, licorice and lingering accents of cinnamon and pepper. On the palate, soft and warm structured velvet tannins with balanced acidity and Long finish with fruity sensations.

2015 Valpolicella Ripasso DOC

Aged two years in large oak casks, the 2016 Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore shows a good mix of primary fruit and oak rendering with light spice and cinnamon to back the dried cherry and blackberry aromas. This is a blend of 75% Corvina, 15% Corvinone and 10% Rondinella, representing a very classic approach to the Valpolicella bending formula. There is a sweet note of candied cherry on the close.
