2018 Bin 600 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Shiraz Napa Valley, Paso Robles

Named for our original California vineyard, the Creston "600" Ranch, Penfolds Bin 600 Cabernet Shiraz is intrinsically linked to the American Dream we embarked on more than 20 years ago. Today, Bin 600 is made with grapes grown from the original heritage selection of vine cuttings we first planted back in 1998 — a taste of the esteemed Kalimna and Magill Estate vineyards, brought to America in a signature Penfolds blend.

"Clove, sage, and turmeric spice notes divert to cold coffee grounds, raw coconut kernel, and jasmine tea. Fragrant salsa verde is present in flat leaf parsley, anchovy, and basil."

"A very fine and polished red with cherry, berry, chocolate and cedar aromas and flavors. Some spice and meat with hints of tea leaf. Some ash, too. Medium body and extremely refined texture, showing real balance and elegance. The tannins spread across the palate in a beautiful way. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 22% shiraz. Drink or hold."

2018 Penfolds Bin 704 Cabernet Sauvignon

100% Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

The mirror image of its Australian Bin 407 stablemate, Penfolds Bin 704 Cabernet Sauvignon seeks to showcase California fruit through the lens of Penfolds winemaking tradition. Mindful of regional nuances and regional essence, it redefines all that Napa Valley Cabernet can be.

"Savory expressions lead the charge in the form of carpaccio-style red meats, seared beef with a mild pepper crust, bay leaf, and wild thyme. Following is a Penfolds soul of Black Forest cake, glazed cherries, and dark chocolate. Dark Cabernet fruits transfer from the nose to the palate with a silk-like flow. Animated and lithe yet still somewhat restrained, it has a humble personality but with the quiet conviction of Napa."

" A beautiful, aromatic wine with blackcurrant, cool fruit and hints of minerals and tar. Full-bodied, yet polished and really well manicured. Long and creamy. Shows tension, energy and refinement. Drink after 2024, but so beautiful already. Hard not to drink."

2018 Penfolds Bin 149 Cabernet Sauvignon

85.1% Napa Ca (Rutherford, Calistoga, Oakville) 14.9% South Australia, Australia

Penfolds Bin 149 derives its name from the percentage of South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon that's woven into the blend. Its unique worldly disposition sets it apart from other California wines, and is a testament to the power of the legendary Penfolds House Style.

Classically Penfolds in character, yet altogether different in structure, the palate features fine, close-knit tannins and a menthol lift with flavors of cedar, sandalwood, and roasted meats. Bright acidity provides succulence and a sustained finish.

"Lots of blackberry, currant, light chocolate and hazelnut. This is rather dense and plush, but shows impressive layers of tannins that have a rough-velvet texture. Juicy and intense fruit. The grapes come from the AVAs of Rutherford, Calistoga, Oakville and then spread across Napa. 14.9% comes from South Australia. A global wine. In the end, it's nicely toned and curated. Needs three or four years to come together. Try after 2025."
