One of the Founding Wineries in Napa Valley

Georges de Latour and his wife, along with "the Maestro," André Tchelistcheff, established a legacy of quality wine that transcends the generations...

Often called "the Maestro", André Tchelistcheff is widely considered the most profoundly influential winemaker in Napa Valley history. From the moment of his arrival in Napa in 1938, he shaped and guided the philosophy of innovation and terroir expression in wine making. A philosophy that continues to define the wines of Beaulieu Vineyard today. Tchelistcheff brought European methods of cultivation and pruning to the grapes and vineyards of Beaulieu. That was just the beginning. He soon tasted wine from each parcel of the Rutherford estate and set about experimenting with the rigorous small-lot fermentation that continues to this day. Among his many other innovations were building a cool room to ferment white wines and establishing malolactic fermentation as standard practice when making red wines.

This is a wine that shows the artistry of blending five Bordeaux-heritage grape varieties, which contributed layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon gave the wine its generous core of briary blackberry and cassis expression, while we increased the amount of Merlot this year to tame the tannins and add plush mid-palate texture. Malbec contributed deep plum notes, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot completed the blend with nuances of rose, forest loam and graphite.

"Our 2015 Tapestry is a true reflection of the exceptional 2015 growing season with its expressive, vibrant aromas and flavors, along with incredible structure, layered with an underscore of bright acidity that makes this wine incredibly approachable. This is a wine that shows the artistry of blending five Bordeaux-heritage grape varieties grown within the Napa Valley, which contribute layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon imparts a generous core of juicy wild blackberry, dark blueberry cobbler, and cassis, while the Merlot shows a brighter, riper dark cherry fruit character. The Merlot also softens the tannins and adds plushness and texture on the generous and pleasing mouthfeel. Malbec contributed dark plum and briary blackberry notes, while the Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot completed the blend with broad nuances of violet, wild sage, and anise seed. Well integrated notes of graham cracker crust and gingerbread also tantalize your senses from the toasted oak spices &-; having been aged in new French oak barrels &-; which heighten the aromas and linger on the finish. Amazingly food friendly." -Wine Makers Notes
