Capichera is an Italian wine producer located in a corner of Sardinia,
nestled among the granite rocks of Gallura—a unique natural setting with
great charm. Making wines at the end of the 70's the family followed its
intuition and was the first winery to enhance pure Vermentino by aging in
barriques giving remarkable results. Driven with passion, the family has
improved the production model over the years defining with priority to each
vineyard and vineyard block, enhancing its characteristics. Over time the
family has recognized the potential for Carignano and Syrah, giving rise to
very high profile reds with a strong identity from the Gallura terroir.
The Capichera winery is certainly a point of reference in the wine scene of
Sardinia. At the head of it today is the charismatic Fabrizio Ragnedda, the
winery philosophy is "We go into the vineyard, we see the plant and the
soil, because the wine was born there, not in the cellar. If the wine is
born in a winery it responds to the philosophy of the consumer, not to the
living". The aim is to produce the healthiest Vermentino respecting the
terroir to find the best expression of the grape. "Vermentino is a vine that
like few others loves to feel the scents and aromas of the sea, and loves to
reflect them in its taste." There is no doubt that Capichera has long been
one of the best interpreters of this variety and should be given credit for
fueling the popularity of Vermentino in Italy and Europe.
2020 Vermentino LINTORI Isola Dei Nuraghi IGT
"Morning dew" is the
translation of "Lintóri", obtained from the selection of grapes from the
youngest vineyards. It is deliberately the freshest, most immediate and
mineral expression of pure Vermentino, without sacrificing its intense and
distinctive character. Straw yellow with greenish highlights in color,
intense and fragrant with notes of exotic fruits, lichis, pineapple, and
herbs on the bouquet. Medium body fruity fresh and savory with silky
texture, citrus and mineral notes. Well made with a fine balance and clean
finish.

2019 Vermentino CAPICHERA Isola Dei Nuraghi IGT
Capichera's most beloved, a
wine that competes with the great international whites. The best bunches of
these grapes are transformed into a unique and elegant wine with strong
personality. Straw yellow with golden highlights in color it opens rich and
complex with wild flowers, hawthorn, wisteria, rosemary, thyme, lavender,
yellow-fleshed fruit and flint. Dry on the palate yet still lively, full and
enveloping, with fruity and aromatic flesh. The finish is long and
persistent with rich mineral sapidity and elegant fullness.

2018 Vermentino Capichera VT Isola Dei Nuraghi IGT
One of Capichera's great
challenges: to be the first to vinify Vermentino in barriques. VT is put on
the market no earlier than two years after the harvest. In this way it can
express its strong, unmistakable deep character, and is often considered the
most representative wine of the estate. The color is straw yellow with
slight golden reflections, the intense bouquet is complex with notes
reminiscent of orange blossom, lemon, herbs, wisteria, lavender flowers,
liquorice and citrus honey. On the palate it is medium to full bodied,
lively and warm with a rich and pulpy texture followed with citrus and
honeyed tones. The finish is long and dry caressing with great persistence.

2017 LIANTI Isola Dei Nuraghi IGT
Liŕnti is the Levante, the east, where the sun rises. Produced from
vineyards facing east. It is a blend of the main native vines, including
Carignano, and Syrah obtained from the selection of grapes from the youngest
vineyards. Vinified in steel, it is an authentic Capichera red, a more
sincere interpretation, which while expressing immediacy and freshness
reveals great quality. Fermentation and maceration in steel tanks for about
3 weeks and aging in cement. The color is red with garnet reflections. The
intense nose opens with fruity and spicy notes, cinnamon, rhubarb, black
fruit jelly, mocha. The palate is enveloping with sweet tones of ripe fruit
and fine tannins. Good balance and lingering finish.

2019 ASSAJE Isola Dei Nuraghi IGT
"Assaje" translated means "it is something" Implying a great achievment
blending some of the best Sardinian reds Carignan and a small percentage of
Syrah from their best vineyards in Gallura. Deep red in color with purple
highlights it gets your attention revealing a splendid fusion of ethereal
vinous notes, where black fruits, macerating cherries, blackberry, myrtle,
spices, eucalyptus, cocoa and even salty notes can be detected. After
enticing the senses the reward on the palate is full, warm, savory, with
rich, concentrated ripe fruit and fine tannic structure. Long and persistent
on the finish the wine can last for days before possibly even better on the
second day.
