After extensive tasting in Burgundy in March, it became clear that 2022 is a great vintage for both whites and reds. Charles Van Canneyt and Coquard Loison-Fleurot are two producers that stood out.
Charles Van Canneyt is the winemaker at Domaine Hudelot-Noellat, and the grandson of Alain Hudelot-Noellat. Wishing to expand, he started vinifying a range of reds and whites in 2012 under his own name. There is one word that describes his effort – SUPERB.
Coquard Loison-Fleurot focused on the French market until the younger generation decided to expand their distribution. The secret is out. They vinify some of the finest examples of the various plots they own. And own they do – no less than six Grand Crus. What an envious position to be in.
You owe it to yourself to try these two Bourgogne. It will be a good introduction to these two outstanding producers, and to the 2022 vintage.
