A long time veteran of the wine business in DC, Howard worked on the wholesale side for many years, then moved to retail and now has started a very successful importing business focusing on the wines of Spain. 2022 Casar de Burbia Godello
Extraordinary is the best way to describe this wine.
It has all of the delicious melon and tropical fruit background that this wonderful grape can produce in its finest expression, but 10 months of aging on the lees in stainless steel tanks adds a perfect touch of subtlety and grace.
Sourced from grapes at middle level plots of the 2100 foot hill on which all of the fabulous grapes used by Isidro Bello the owner and winemaker are grown. At this level the soil is rich in slate and quartz which clearly shows in the tangy minerality of this wine.
Perfectly matched with Chesapeake Bay seafood and judiciously prepared fowl

2022 Pago de los Capellanes - Tempranillo Joven
Produced from wire-trained vines that are 15-20 years old. Made from 100% Tinto Fino, this wine develops over about 22 days of cold fermentation. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tank and the wine spends about 5 months in new French oak barrels when this is complete.

He has made wine in New Zealand and as the winemaker at Canals Canals his training and dedication have culminated in superbly styled Cava that is unmatched.
Here too we are tasting both ends of his winemaking skills and you will notice the same soft, rich style and glorious overtones of tropical fruit that make his wines the most "food friendly" we have ever come across in sparkling wine. 2019 Canals Canals Cava Brut Reserva Especial
This amazingly soft, delightfully crisp Cava is produced from white grapes only and is made in the traditional "French method". It spends more than 24 months gaining complex flavors and aromas during secondary fermentation before being disgorged and finally corked just before bottling. Only the finest of French champagnes are bottled in this manner known as "RD".
The special way in which Ramon Canals Reserva Brut is produced gives the wine a very round, easy to enjoy flavor with notes of pear and tropical fruit. These charming flavors make it perfect as a starter with cheese and other light "finger foods" and as a lovely pairing with shellfish and other light seafood. For holiday entertaining, this moderately priced "sparkler" is a perfect choice.

2020 Canals Canals Rosat Reserva Brut Nature
An astoundingly beautiful Cava made from Pinot Noir and Grenache and aged for over 24 months on the lees gaining complexity and richness during secondary fermentation before being finally corked just before bottling. This extra effort to produce an incredibly fresh style is used on only the finest French wines.
This wine presents a deep pink color with fine and persistent bubbles. It has a fresh, floral aroma with a slight nuttiness. It full bodied with a lengthy finish that ends with a clean touch of spice.

THE MARTA TERROIR: EL PENEDES
The wines of the Penedes region are grown and ripened on the hills of the inland Mediterranean region of Catalonia in the central depression. The Penedes is located in the North-East of Spain. The vines benefit from extended sunshine and cool breezes from the nearby Mediterranean Sea. The resulting fruit is of a very high standard which is skillfully crafted into the Marta cava & wines.
2020 Ramon Canals - Garnatxa Negra Montsant Siana
The Designation of Origin DO Montsant is located in the centre of Catalonia, forming a ring around the famous and exclusive DOQ Priorat. DO Montsant is known as the "diamond in the rough", because although it is a DO which was created only a few years ago, it already has a prestigious reputation throughout the world. In fact, its prestige is growing so fast that DO Montsant is today one of the world's top-rated regions. Wine has been produced in the Montsant area for thousands of years. It is a very isolated area, depending exclusively on agricultural production methods that respect the environment, and which serve as a good example of environmental preservation. Vineyards spread out across the mountainous slopes among olive groves, forests, and stone. Our vineyards are located in Cornudella del Montsant.

2020 Ramon Canals - Priorat Sentiments
THE SENTIMENTS TERROIR: EL PRIORAT Today the Qualified Designation of Origin Priorat is one of the world's most prestigious wine-producing regions. It is unique. It is sublime. It is pure magic. DOQ Priorat is located in the centre of Catalonia, in an unpopulated and inhospitable area. The vines grow in poor, rocky soils. They are planted on mountain slopes, in terraces at an altitude of between 100 and 700 meters above sea level. Most of the land in Priorat is composed of silica slate, known by the locals as "llicorella", and it is the llicorella that gives Priorat wines their unique character. Average production per vine is often less than 1 kg, and this confers excellent properties upon the grapes, which become pure gold in the hands of a good winemaker. Our vineyards are located in La Morera del Montsant and in Poboleda.
