We are very excited to see the Janasse wines finally back on our shelves. This is a Domaine that we have followed for many, many years and I've been fortunate enough to visit the property and taste with the charming Isabel Sabon a few times.
Janasse is lucky enough to own many vineyard plots all over the appellation with a variety of terroirs. If you've been to Chateauneuf you know that the geography and soil changes quite a bit as you drive around. Janasse can blend different parcels from all these various soil types to fashion fabulous wines year in year out.
What is the Janasse style? To me it's traditional with a modern touch. The wines have that garrigue and concentrated fruit that can only come from old-vine Grenache but I rarely find them to be too heavy handed. We were able to get a parcel at very nice pricing – and generally Chateauneuf prices have remained very stable….so CDP is a strong buy at the moment!
