Come and meet Jim Anderson of Patricia Green who will be showcasing a selection of his incredible wines!
Patty Green and Jim Anderson started Patricia Green Cellars in 2000 after walking away from a very successful winery that they had built since its inception in 1993. As karma would have it they were offered the opportunity, out of almost nowhere, to purchase a winery and vineyard that were in the area that would become to be known as the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The winery was built on the idea that there were great vineyards in Oregon that could produce uniquely excellent wines if people dedicated themselves to the farming and winemaking necessary to do so. Over many vintages that ideal expanded as experience was gained, the winery grew and the sophistication of the vision adapted to the times.
2024 Patricia Green Willamette Valley Sauvignon Blanc
This is classic Sauvignon Blanc provided you do not think this variety should smell like cut grass and cat pee. This has high-toned and heavily fruited aromatics with a distinct limey/citrus tinge along with the hint of straw and minerals which is what ripe Sauvignon Blanc should have as its varietal typicity. The strength of the aromatics resounds in the glass as the wine is deeply fruited with citrus notes at the entry giving way to tropical fruit with extremely crisp acidity on the finish while still having enough palate weight that there is length and complexity. The wine is bright and fresh but retains an enormous amount of texture and richness without being heavy or taking away from its "summertime drinking" sort of nature. We have changed the label to our artistic series that covers our white and rosé wines, and this shows off the range of aromatics and flavors that anyone might expect to find in this bottling.

2023 Patricia Green Willamette Valley Reserve Pinot Noir
This bottling comes from terrific sources. The Reserve has always been a wine that looked to excellent and renowned vineyards for its make-up. The 2023 has an excellent and a completely unique pedigree for a wine at its price. All of the wines in this bottle are from vineyards (8 of them!) from which we make or have made at least one single-vineyard Pinot Noir.

2022 Patricia Green Chehalem Mountain Vineyard Pinot Noir
This wine combines the fruit driven intensity of the two California clones that make up around 65% of its volume with the more densely structured and earthenly nuanced clones that are common to Oregon. Combined with growing in marine soils and the isolated valley nature of this site it all adds up to a unique, dynamic, and intense without being too powerful sort of Pinot Noir. This is richly colored, highly aromatic and abounding with darker/bluer sort of fruit notes and finishing with an excellent structural composition that reins everything allowing for it to be balanced and delicious in the short term while giving appropriate framing for, most certainly, medium term aging and quite possibly rewarding aging well into a second decade in bottle.

2022 Patricia Green Freedom Hills Vineyard Pinot Noir
Because we are fully committed to this site, we take more acreage of Pinot Noir than any of the other wineries that pull fruit from here. Because we take a lot by both volume and diversity of blocks and clones and because we choose to bottle some barrels from some of the individual blocks, we can create a larger bottling that is still full of Freedom Hill goodness while coming in at a price atypical of Freedom Hill Vineyard made by any other producer. We are proud to be able to offer a Pinot Noir from one of Oregon's premier vineyard sites at a price that many entry level, blended Pinot Noirs go for. Freedom Hill is known for dark, elaborately pigmented wines with a wealth of fruit, generous mouthfeel and a dollop of tannins that gives the wine framework and dimension. While not a lightweight this is far from some bruising or sultry wine. This has intense red/black fruits, earthy spices and just a bit of grip. This will be excellent in its youth but will have solid footing and great upside for well over a decade.

2022 Patricia Green Lia's Vineyard Chehalem Mountains
As the only wine in our lengthy portfolios of Pinot Noir that crosses over our two notable categories of soil type, Lia's Vineyard has an expression to it that is distinct from all our other wines. As it should. The Pommard in the upper portions of our blocks provides the sweetness of fruit in both the aromatics and flavor while giving a silky impression in the mid-palate. The lower situated Dijon 115 in marine soil provides more structure as well as infusing minerality and slight earth tones. The one barrel of Mariafeld is the grout that pulls these disparate features together and makes them harmonious. This wine now is far more than informational and instructional about how the combined soils show together in a single wine. This is wine with soaring aromatics that promises to have a long future of slowly unwinding while still being immensely drinkable with a mix of red and black fruits washing over a nicely tight structure of youthful tannins in the here and now.
