Old Forester 86 Bourbon Whiskey 750ml

Old Forester Classic 86 Proof Bourbon is produced by Brown-Forman at its distillery in Shively, Kentucky, under the supervision of Master Distiller Chris Morris. Founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, a former pharmaceutical salesman turned bourbon merchant, Old Forester holds the distinction of being the only bourbon continuously distilled and marketed by its founding family before, during, and after Prohibition, and it was the first bourbon sold exclusively in sealed bottles, a quality guarantee that Brown backed with his own signature on the label.

This expression is made to the brand's original mash bill of 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye, and 10 percent malted barley, the same recipe later adopted for Woodford Reserve. Old Forester is twice distilled, first through a column still and then a thumper still, before resting in new charred oak barrels within specially designed, heat-cycled rickhouses for a minimum of four years. The whiskey is bottled at 86 proof, a milder strength meant to showcase the brand's classic, approachable character, and has earned recognition including a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition.

On the nose, bright citrus and tropical fruit meet delicate florals, pound cake sweetness, and a touch of clove and toasted oak. The palate leads with citrus zest and ripe pear over fresh mint and clove spice, while the finish carries that spearmint and clove through to a warm, toasted oak close.
