Piucinque Gin 700ml

Piùcinque is the debut spirit from Threespirits, a small Italian company founded by three friends, Antonio, Filippo, and Giacomo, whose shared passion for good drinks and travel led them to develop their own gin. The name, meaning "plus five" in Italian, comes from an early recipe in which five of the ten botanicals were dialed up in intensity, and once the team found the balance they liked, that formula became the finished product. The gin is distilled at Antica Distilleria Quaglia just outside Turin in Piedmont.

Piùcinque uses ten botanicals, including juniper, wormwood flowering peaks, angelica, almond, ginger, citrus, zedoary, iris, sage, and bergamot, with sage and bergamot given particular prominence in the final blend. Production follows the traditional bain-marie, or double-boiler, method of discontinuous distillation, a slower process associated with older Italian distilling practices, and the gin is bottled at 47% ABV.

The gin pours crystal clear, with instant, persistent aromas of citrus that shift toward warmer tones of wormwood and almond. On the palate those herbal notes echo the nose, leading into a long, dry, ultra-crisp finish, making it well suited to a classic gin and tonic garnished with a sage leaf.
