Rum Chata Cream Liqueur 750ml

RumChata was created in 2009 by Tom Maas, a spirits industry veteran who had previously served as director of bourbon for brands like Jim Beam and Knob Creek before coming out of retirement to launch the liqueur. His father Duane joined him to run the Pewaukee, Wisconsin bottling facility, and the brand grew from just a couple thousand cases in its first year into one of the best selling cream liqueurs in the country. In 2021 the company, then known as Agave Loco LLC, was acquired by E. & J. Gallo Winery, which continues production at the same Wisconsin facility.

The liqueur draws its inspiration from horchata, the cinnamon and vanilla spiced rice beverage popular across Latin America and Spain. Its base is five times distilled Caribbean rum, which is blended with real Wisconsin dairy cream, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar, then carefully homogenized into a stable emulsion. This process gives RumChata a smooth, shelf stable texture that resists separation and does not require refrigeration before opening, setting it apart from many other cream liqueurs on the market.

Bottled at 13.75 percent alcohol by volume, RumChata opens with sweet cream and warm cinnamon on the nose, followed by a soft rice milk sweetness. The palate is rich and velvety, with cinnamon spice building at mid palate alongside vanilla and a gentle rum warmth, finishing smooth with lingering spice rather than a harsh alcohol bite.
