Smith & Cross Rum 750ml

Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum traces its roots to 1788, when the London firms Smith & Tyers and White Cross began trading sugar and spirits from a refinery on Thames Street near the London Docks. Over generations the two houses merged into a single mark that became one of England's most established handlers of Jamaica rum. Today the brand is produced under Hayman Distillers, who source the spirit rather than distill it themselves, keeping the label tied closely to its historic import trade.

The rum itself comes from Hampden Estate in Trelawny, Jamaica, one of the island's oldest continuously operating distilleries, with additional distillate drawn from New Yarmouth. It is produced entirely on copper pot stills from molasses, cane juice, and syrup, fermented using traditional dunder-pit methods that build the pronounced ester levels Jamaican rum is known for. The blend combines two historic marques, Wedderburn and Plummer, aged separately in used bourbon barrels before being married and bottled at Navy strength, 57% ABV, without chill filtration or added sugar.

On the nose and palate, the rum delivers ripe banana, mango, and pineapple alongside molasses, woodsmoke, and an earthy, funky hogo character, finishing warm and dry with a lingering spice note.
